“Within this vault lie secrets that we were too afraid to risk pursing with the world so fragile. Devices that may be able to aid you in what we fear might be inevitable, but cannot be given to the wrong soul. Once we offered teaching to the Second, to those who we hoped could be given this place. In their souls lies the key, if they possess the will to ask it.”
-The message of the Elder First

About the Vault and Door

The Vault is a remarkably well concealed facility in the mountains of America in the northwest of the pre-Sorrows state of California. Initially it resisted all attempts at opening as the conditions of the Elder First’s message were not met by those making the attempt. The door was seamless.

While Amanda visited the Vault in 2110 Mary D’Reve was also present. The Minister D’Reve examines the door and provided President Hawk with a basic rundown on what she thought would happen if Amanda or another Potential who met the message’s criteria approached the door.

“Put simply, she thinks it’s a test. A way to make sure that whatever is hidden away behind it is only granted to a humanity that is ready for it. She’s not quite sure how it will do that, but she managed to rig up a scanner that revealed a neural transceiver net built into the chamber holding the door. Walk into that room, she says, and whatever the Elder First prepared will happen.” (Turn 6 Results)
